LABORATORY FACILITIES

Buffalo BioLabs, LLC is located in the Biosciences Building at 73 High St. in the heart of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (www.bnmc.org). The campus serves as a consortium of the regions premier health care, life sciences research, and medical education institutions including Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (RPCCC) and University of Buffalo. Approximately 5250 sq. ft. is divided among offices and in vitro laboratory spaces including tissue/cell culture labs, cold and constant temperature rooms, dark rooms, glass washing, and autoclave facilities. Our employees & premises are protected by swipe card access, security cameras with CC recording and intermittent security patrols. The facility is monitored 24/7 for break-in and fire with a direct connection to two external monitoring stations.

ON-SITE RESOURCES

HISTOLOGY SERVICES

Necropsy services ranging from brief macroscopic observations to detail oriented thorough descriptions with organ and tissue collection are available. Standard formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue processing is used for a wide range of microscopic slide evaluations including H&E, Trichrome and other IHC applications. Cryopreservation for frozen sectioning and other applications is offered.

IRRADIATION

Customized radiation services to discover new medical countermeasures for efficacy in prophylaxis, mitigation and treatment of radiation injury and radiation induced disease.

  • Total Body Gamma Irradiation (MARK 1 Gamma Irradiator by JL Shephard)

  • Localized or Total Body X-ray Irradiation (Phillips RT 250 Orthovoltage X-ray Unit)

  • Topical UVB Irradiation (Custom Benchtop UV Transilluminator)

TRANSLATIONAL IMAGING

We provide specialized services related to the imaging of small animal models of disease including image acquisition, quantitative image analysis, multidimensional rendering and visualization. MRI, x-ray, bioluminescence/fluorescence (tumor or whole body) can provide real-time, noninvasive, in vivo imaging to monitor and record tumor cells and tumor growth.

HEMATOLOGY SERVICES

Blood collected through all standard routes including cardiac, saphenous, tail vein, submandibular and retro-orbital. Blood can be processed to plasma or serum and analyzed here by CBC or promptly shipped directly to your lab for further analysis.

MANAGED RESOURCES

OUTSOURCED SERVICES

Our close partnerships with the local research community allows us to utilize an array of supplementary resources, services and cutting edge technologies. These additional outsourced services are available to complement our in-house research.  We offer access to large animal research through our trusted partners as well as more in-depth bioanalytical and specialized services. Contact us directly for additional information.

FLOW CYTOMETRY

Flow cytometry and morphology services at the cellular and sub-cellular levels of resolution. Comprehensive sample processing, data acquisition, and data analysis services. Luminex cytokine, chemokine, and growth factor identification. FACS (Fluorescence-Activated Cell Sorting) Combine FACS with our in vivo studies for immunophenotyping, cell sorting, cell cycle analysis, proliferation and other applications for more in-depth analysis. Consult directly with our FACS expert for study design or to better understand your results.

BIOANALYTICAL SERVICES

Services are available through our trusted partner for the analysis of samples in support of PK studies. After collection and processing, we will ship your samples directly to our partner where the will be expertly analyzed. Results will be combined with your in-life study results to provide you with a single, comprehensive study report. Small molecules, proteins, and peptides can be analyzed in plasma, tissue, urine, feces, bile, lymph fluid, and CSF.

SMALL MOLECULE SCREENING

Screen chemical libraries consisting of a collection of 110,000 compounds in a variety of readout systems. Sophisticated automated liquid handling equipment is used to ensure accurate delivery of this library in both 96 and 384 well formats while detection equipment allows for screening using either cell based or biochemical assays.
